Hallmarking

In the UK, any person that deals in precious metals must display on their premises, on their stall or on their website in a clearly visible or easy to find position, a Hallmarking Act 1973 notice (Dealers Notice) as approved by the British Hallmarking Council.

The most current Hallmarking Dealer’s Notice is below. Currently, all Silver items over the weight of 7.78g, and any gold items over the weight of 1g must be hallmarked by law.

Most of my pieces of jewellery are below the threshold so have not been Hallmarked.

Any item for sale that is over the threshold has been and it is stated in the product description either way so you have full information about my jewellery.

I am registered with the London Assay office, so the leopards head will be stamped/lasered on to the relevant item along with my sponsors/makers mark and the fineness of the metal used and the year of production.

My Sponsors Mark is MKC which are my initials rather than the initials of the company.

As you can see below there are optional marks that can be added to a hallmark.
