Week 3 - Torque Bangle

Week 3 - Torque Bangle

This looked like such an easy project.  I had seen some of last year's students bangles and have been looking forward to it all year.  Well this week did not go according to plan, I just couldn't get enough heat into the wire to successfully solder the smallest of bits of wire to the longer length.  So I had to purchase a bigger torch aka ‘the beast’!!!

‘The beast’ can be a little unpredictable and ferocious but with a little practice and some nerves of steel I was able to get it under control.  Once the beast was tamed; the right amount of heat was applied and the solder gods were also aligned and the solder flowed for me.

I so wish I had ‘the beast’ last term for several of those projects.

This week as with last week was definitely a learning curve which is exactly what this course is all about.  If you don't make mistakes you can't learn and grow.  Also in jewellery making there is no ‘one’ way to do something; it is all about finding the right way that works best for you.
