Week 2 - Irregular Cabochon setting

Sorry I am a little behind with keeping you updated with regards to the diploma, life and work got in the way. Anyway here is week 2.

I have never really made or set stones in bezels, except for the really small ones on stacking rings and the bezel cups were bought already made. The only bezel I have attempted this size is a large statement necklace in copper that I am still yet to finish and I struggled with that one as well.

This was not an easy week and the pictures below are actually version 2, which is far from perfect.

Unfortunately I misjudged and made the star too big on the back both times.

Hey ho you live and learn and that is what this course is all about. At the end of the day I have ended up with a gorgeous chunky silver and Amethyst pendant.

I had my marking 1:1 session this week and I was so pleased with my score, I was so close to a Distinction which I am really pleased about. 

So this term i will be taking all these points and the feedback on board to improve on this terms pieces for submission.
